South Plains College and the Center for BrainHealth at the University of Texas – Dallas are partnering to provide faculty and staff with professional development for healthy brain practices and neuroscience-based teaching and learning strategies.

March 4: Boost Brain Health to Combat Stress

(virtual session)  will help participants develop proactive brain-healthy habits to manage stress. After the session, participants will be able to define stress and recognize how it impacts brain performance, in addition to learning practical ways to ease chronic stress and leverage the benefits of stress.

 

April 22: Calibrate Cognitive Resources for Optimal Performance

(virtual session) will help participants assess the information their brains process throughout the day.  At the end of the session, participants will understand how to proactively structure their day to increase focus and ignite the brain’s reward system.

August 26: Transformative Thinking and Cognitive Flexibility To Enhance Learning and Success at the College Level

(live in-person session) will teach participants to generate and discover novel concepts, imagine future problems and identify solutions from multiple viewpoints enhancing their teaching and increasing students’ learning.
